Summer lawn care (June - early September)
Ah, we all love a nice, hot, sunny day lazing around in the garden or entertaining friends and family with games or a summer BBQ.
Of course, central to this vision, is a perfect green, lush lawn.
For the lawn, this can be its most stressful time of the year. If you’ve taken care of your lawn in spring, don’t let that hard work be in vain, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your lawn looking at its best.
Watering
The most important thing you can is to water your lawn.
The best times to water are either early morning or late evening (the moisture is more likely to soak in rather than evaporate).
It may also be worth feeding your lawn as well.

Mowing
Try to mow your lawn once a week, keeping it to between 15 and 50mm (around 1 inch), depending on your type of grass. If the summer turns really hot and dry, mowing will make your lawn stressed, so reduce the amount of mowing and let your grass grow longer.

Consider leaving grass clippings on the lawn as this provides a little extra moisture.
Enjoy your lawn
It’s the summer, so make sure you get out in the garden and enjoy your lawn. All that hard work in the spring should be paying dividends.
