Saving and Opening Projects

Registered users of the Barenbrug website can save calculations performed using BarPlanner and store them as projects.

Using BarPlanner this way enables the user to group calculations and defined areas for ease of future reference as well as being able to summarise requirements within a project to simplify the ordering process.

Example of use: Landscaper
Using the Project function, each of a Landscaper's clients can be allocated their own seperate project and the calculations stored accordingly. Specifying the cost and weight per bag within the BarPlanner enables estimates to be quickly calculated and stored for each client, specifying details of non-Barenbrug products can aid comparitive quotes. Using the summary feature a cumulative order can be calculated automatically (see Summarising Calculations).

To store calculated areas and saved calculations simply specify a project title in the relevant textbox in Section Four and click the 'Save Project' button.

To recall a project select the project from the drop down list at the top of the SeedPlanner page and click the 'Open Saved Project' button.

To delete a project select the project you wish to delete from the drop down list at the top of the SeedPlanner page and click the 'Delete Selected Project' button.

Calculating Areas

The SeedPlanner includes the ability to define and store area descriptions and calculate the area. These areas can then be selected providing an automatic area total for use with the BarPlanner in Section Two.

To define a new area:

  • Click on the 'define a new area' button and a pop-up window will be displayed.
  • Select the shape you wish to include in the area calculation.
  • Specify the width and length of the shape.
  • Select whether you wish to ADD or SUBTRACT the shape from the area definition. For example, if you have a large field rectangular field with an oval pond in the middle the rectangle can be defined and added and the oval defined and subtracted.
  • Click the Update button to add the shape to the definition of the area.
  • This process can be repeated until the area is fully defined.
  • Specify an area title in the textbox provided and click the 'Save and exit button'
  • Defining an area can also be repeated as many times as needed. To edit or delete a defined area click the relevant links.

Once areas have been defined they will appear in the Section One Calculate list and can be selected by specifying a quantity. This enables a common area (20 identical garden plots on an estate for instance) to be easily calculate by defining the area of one garden plot and then specifying 20 in quantity. On selection the Total Area field in Section Two will automatically be calculated.

To save your defined areas see Saving and Opening Projects.
